Alice’s Unwedding – Pretty in Pastel

The Alice in Wonderland styled shoot was meaningful to me for a variety of reasons, especially as noted at the end.  It was also important that it capture my brand – whimsical, romantic and fairytale inspired. We were excited to collaborate at the historic Carriage House in the heart of Milton, Ontario’s Country Heritage Park.  I loved the rural and picturesque setting that made you feel as if you were swept back to the turn of the 19thcentury.  Not long ago a film adaption of Lucy Maud Montgomery’s, Anne of Green Gables, was brought to life there.

As we are amidst the submissions process with a goal of being published, I can’t yet post the stunning pictures and video resulting from the hard work of our talented vendors and stylist, even though I’m itching to very badly.  For now, I will have to do my best to describe. Jordan Latreille was the most perfect ‘Alice’, wearing stunning gowns in shades of light blue and cream from Lea Ann Belter, Peony Emporium and Henkaa.  And blue Fluevog shoes – so whimsical and rare.  Only 300 were ever produced!  Elisha (of Makeup by Elisha) created a bold and flawless look.  Jordan’s gorgeous blonde locks were swept into a bow for her partial up-do by Soraya (of Hair by Soraya). These ladies truly brought ‘Alice’ to life.  Jewellery from Luna & Co. adorned each outfit adding sparkle with fine elegance – fit for any modern princess!

How else would Alice celebrate her un-wedding other than with a whimsical tea party. Jaye Designs created the perfect, themed stationery, an invitation adorned with a vintage clock that looked as though it had slipped out of a distant time. Patricia of Cre8tive studios is creative indeed!  She provided a curvy blue settee, stunning blue antique vanity and numerous décor items.  A myriad, of vintage tea cups, summer blooms, china from Plate Occasions, books, candles, and clocks were playfully strewn across the head harvest table flanked by gold Chiavari chairs. The beautiful table, chairs, vintage white sofa, as well as the birch wedding arch, antique bell, draping and miscellaneous décor were graciously supplied by Kasia of Vintage Rentals and they worked hard to help us pull everything together.  Kirsten of Kiwi’s Cupcakes & Cakes created a fanciful cake with exquisite butterflies along with delicious macarons and mini-desserts. Adorable cookies depicting “Eat me” capped the tea cups each of colorful place setting, compliments of Made with Love by Erica Leigh. Beautiful summer blooms in pastel shades from Hana Florals fashioned the flowers for bouquet, centerpiece and rustic ceremony arch.  Amber from My Fit Little Foodie was our caterer for the event and kept us refreshed with a delicious lunch of healthy smoothies and salad – everyone loved it! And what is an Alice in Wonderland shoot without a White Rabbit?  Although fabled to be shy, Boo played his part flawlessly.

It was a wonderful opportunity for me to collaborate with my talented daughters and son-in-law.  Audrey Mills of Audrey Mills Photography captured the beautiful photos which are truly stunning – I can’t wait to be able to plaster these everywhere.  I am so very proud of you.  Amanda and Kevin Arnason of multi-published, Amaros Media were responsible for the incredible videography. Your timing, creativity and precision never cease to amaze me.  My younger daughter, Hayley Mills captured photos from our initial viewing of the venue and assisted with loading and unloading on the day of the shoot – we keep joking that perhaps one day she will assume a role in the wedding industry as we seem to have a family thing brewing here…

Aside from working with family and incredible vendors while building my brand, the shoot was very meaningful to me is because my late sister, Nicole Ann Lee, was such an avid Disney fan.  She wished to renew her wedding vows at Disney World but never had the chance.  I hope she is in a very happy, love-filled Wonderland of her own, and was somehow able to see our Disney inspired wedding styled shoot that I would like to dedicate to her memory.

In loving memory of Nicole Lee. I love you and miss you every day, sis
